The Bodybuilder
An experiment into extreme anatomy.
The more traditional method of sculpting is to create a base mesh of simple shapes. You start off by building his arms out of something like cylinders, a sphere for his head, a box for his chest. You may have a library of previous base forms that you can pull out and piece together, just to give yourself a quick foundation to start with. Then you layer on top of that foundation and slowly build up your character.
Sometimes though, I prefer to start with nothing more than a sphere to form his head. I’ll grab the sphere and pull out a section that becomes his neck, and then pull that out further, stretching it like taffy to become his shoulders, then his arms, etc. This is not the most efficient way to work, but it can be fun and rewarding to make something completely “from scratch”.
Turntable
His weights are 2lbs each, by the way. Building up that show muscle means lowering the weight and upping the reps.
Shirt
I tried modelling him with a shirt. It doesn’t quite fit, in either sense of the word.
